Hubert Hurkacz broke his silence. The Pole took a big risk

It is worth recalling that the tennis player from the capital of Lower Silesia withdrew from the ATP 500 tournament in Halle a dozen or so days ago. Another on the list of those in which Hubert Hurkacz likes to play and is able to play – having won the entire competition, among other things.
A little earlier, the Pole had to withdraw from the tournament in s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. The Wrocław player suffered a back injury during the match and it was obvious that the injury could make it difficult to function normally.
Hubert Hurkacz after surgery. The Pole's eloquent words in the press releaseBefore Wimbledon, however, it turned out that the health problems were compounded by the issue of a recurring knee problem. For this reason, Hurkacz had to withdraw from the competition in London.
"Hi everyone! I've been struggling with knee issues in recent weeks - pain, fluid build-up and other ailments that have made it very difficult for me to train and compete. After carefully evaluating the options, we decided that arthroscopy, which I underwent last Monday, would be the best solution. During the procedure, the overgrown synovium, which is responsible for the inflammation, pain and all the related problems, was removed. A huge thank you to Dr. Bartłomiej Kacprzak, who performed the surgery. I'm now starting my rehabilitation and will only return to the court when I'm 110% ready to compete again. Thank you for all your support - it really means a lot to me and I can't wait to get back on the court. I wish everyone a successful Wimbledon! This year I'll be cheering you on from the couch," the tennis player wrote in a post posted on social media on Thursday morning.
Let us recall that it was at Wimbledon that Hurkacz achieved his best result in his career, looking at the Grand Slam tournaments. In 2021, the Pole reached the semifinals of the event in London.
Currently, Kamil Majchrzak is doing well at Wimbledon. The only Polish singles player has just achieved a personal best, reaching the third round of the event in London on Wednesday evening.
Hurkacz can only wish good health. Surgical intervention related to the knee, especially in a sport like tennis - this is never good news. What's more, these are movements burdened with considerable risk. However, it remains to be hoped that this time it will end better than it did in 2024. At that time, the Pole, it seems, returned to playing a bit too quickly.
