In such conditions Poles are fighting at Euro. Unbelievable
Correspondence from Žilina
Is Slovakia ready for a major football tournament? When we headed towards the stadium on match day, we had serious doubts. Just getting to the MŠK Žilina stadium, where Jakub Kiwior played just a few years ago, was no easy feat. There are signs around the stadium, but when they point to the construction site, it's hard to believe that someone didn't accidentally move them.
Ultimately, it turns out that there was no mistake. Everything possible is currently being renovated in the area, and fans heading to the stadium must be prepared to pass machinery, dug-up roads, and construction noise.
Interestingly, a bit further on it doesn't look any better. The entrances to the stadium were abandoned, there was a lot of mess and the accreditation center was set up in... a bar. On the day the tournament started, it didn't look too good. Similarly to other issues related to the matches.

When you leave the stadium, the signs also point to the fan zone. I recently had the pleasure of visiting one at the Conference League final in Wrocław, and there really was a lot to do there. A mini pitch, a dozen or so stands with contests, a replica of the cup that you could take pictures with.
And here? A sign with the name of the city, with balls attached to it and... a stage with a big screen. The problem was that at 1:00 PM there was still, of course, a construction site. And yet five hours later Slovakia opened a major tournament. And what a match, against Spain!

Let's admit, however, that when the tournament had already started and we were heading to the stadium, there was indeed no shortage of fans in the city centre following the actions of their youth team.
Well, since everything was ready, we counted on a successful start to the championship. Especially since everything depended on the first match, with Georgia. And the next matches, with Portugal and France, were supposed to be only and only a fight for a surprise.
Poles reached Žilina. "Robert Lewandowski" quickly fellThere were great hopes, there was commitment, and how did it end? As usual. The Poles did not take advantage of the opportunities, and after their own mistakes they lost to Georgia 1:2 . Even the fans, who from time to time became active in the stands, did not help. Although it must be admitted that it was not only about the match.
– F*** PZPN, Michał Probierz, f****** lay" – was said at the beginning, and then we heard chants of "Robert Lewandowski, Robert Lewandowski".
Even during such a match, the fans had to express their dissatisfaction with the whole scandal related to the national team. And they clearly supported one of the sides.
And what can they feel after the match with Georgia? There was no shortage of absurdities here either. Coach Adam Majewski claimed that he had replaced Mariusz Fornalczyk because he had asked for it. And the player himself told us that the coach had asked him about it twice. So he finally said that he would last five more minutes.
And it ended up that Michał Rakoczy, who was replacing him, made a mistake that gave the Georgians the second goal. And we were left wondering again what went wrong?
After the match, there was no silence in the press stand, because the Georgians celebrated their victory for a long time. And in discussions related to the Polish national team, the same names were mentioned again. Yes, it was about the absentees. After all, Maxi Oyedele or Kacper Urbański would really come in handy here.
Well, now we have to wait for the match for everything. What's worse is that our rival will be the Portuguese.
– Here too, everyone was betting that we would win. So why, when everyone is betting on Portugal, can't we surprise? – Patryk Peda stated after the match. Let's hope there is a solution in this logic.
