It's hard to like the Polish national team. Let alone root for them.

The men's national football team arouses the greatest emotions among all other teams in white and red, Polish colors. You can turn up your nose, point to the positive example of our volleyball players. After all, the current Olympic vice-champions or European champions. But let's agree, facts remain facts.

Everyone has kicked a football, better or worse. And even if someone doesn't like footballers, doesn't watch football, they still have emotions towards the team - currently coached by Michał Probierz. Mostly negative, but still.

The June football training camp is already a typical kicking of the fallen. The Polish national team currently brings little joy, the typical joy on the pitch. The Poles' style of play is devoid of the aforementioned emotions, limiting itself rather to creating chances. Goal-scoring? None of that! Opportunities for more gray hairs after another national, exhausted 90 minutes.

These small dramas were few and far between. So a successful attempt was made to take the captain's armband away from Robert Lewandowski. A footballer from another galaxy, looking at everyday football in Poland. "Lewy" won wherever he appeared in his career, with one exception. The national team one. But he was there, even if it was worse than average.

Such mediocrity was not so long ago, in the March qualifying matches for next year's World Cup. In a two-game series at the PGE National Stadium, Poland played Lithuania and Malta. To put it mildly, the rivals were not and are not the aces of world football. However, they managed - because it is difficult to talk about domination - to win both matches. It was especially dangerous with the Lithuanians, but Poland ultimately won modestly 1:0, and the goal worth three points was scored by who, who do you think?

Lewandowski lost the captain's armband over the phone. After 11 years as captain of the national team. According to the coach, this was the most appropriate moment for "Lewy" to learn of Probierz's decision. The coach explained that he came up with it, among other things, after talking to other representatives, with members of the staff. Part of the players' guilt was eventually denied later, more specifically in the middle of the night. Such denials of both, write it all off, like the "hell" from the times of the so-called bonus scandal after the World Cup in Qatar. At that time, however, Czesław Michniewicz was the one who was left at the public grill at the end. Now Probierz.

So the function is the same, only the tragic heroes change.

In response to this type of "handling of the matter" by the coach, Lewandowski stated that he would not play for Mr. Probierz again. So is this the end of the outstanding player's career in the national team? Personally, I hope not, because if it were to end like this, it would be the most... Polish scenario . After all, we are wise only after the damage has been done. Lewandowski was certainly not a dream captain, but let's agree, he certainly deserved something more than what we have been living with in recent days.

I will not exaggerate as in the title. It is rather impossible not to support the Polish national team, it is a kind of small-great patriotism, whether from the height of the stands or the television. However, it is difficult to approach with any sympathy this "hell", which has become a "swamp", not to use harsher words. The list of all the sins of the football team should not be limited only to the situation between Probierz and Lewandowski from the June training camp. If you think about it, you could easily make a... brew from these vices, which I will allow myself to borrow from a piece by Andrzej Poniedzielski.

And since the fish rots from the head down, the Polish Football Association should receive a large piece of content here. But it won't, I'll play it like the president of the federation, Cezary Kulesza. Silence. Elections in a moment, there's no rival candidate anyway (sic!), so why stick your neck out.
