Michał Probierz's debutant has spoken. And he has one appeal
He has been getting great reviews on the Ekstraklasa pitches and has finally been given a chance by coach Michał Probierz. In Friday's friendly match with Moldova, we could watch Mateusz Skrzypczak for the first time in the senior Polish national team. The 24-year-old played the entire match and the White and Reds defeated Moldova 2-0 at the Superauto.pl Silesian Stadium.
— It wasn't an easy match, but I think we had it under control. We won a deserved victory and it's great that we came away with zero points. This is certainly an optimistic prognosis before Tuesday's match in Finland — emphasized Skrzypczak.
All eyes were on Kamil Grosicki on Friday evening, who was bid farewell by the fans with the greatest honours. The winger left the pitch in the 30th minute to a huge uproar from over 35 thousand fans gathered in the "Cauldron of Witches".
— I'm very happy that I could take part in this, because Kamil is a legend of the Polish national team. When I was a young boy, I watched his performances on the internet and admired him. In the Ekstraklasa I could also compete with him and it was a huge inspiration for me. I'm glad that I could hear those words that he said before the match — added Skrzypczak, who was also asked about the criticism that has been directed at the White and Reds in recent months.
Including the qualifying matches, Michał Probierz's team recorded their third victory in a row, but the style left a lot to be desired. And that's putting it mildly.
— I haven't watched the match yet, because I'm so emotional. I feel a bit like I'm in Disneyland because of this debut. It was a well-deserved victory. It was a friendly match and the coach definitely wanted to test different solutions. The most important thing is that we won, but I agree about the style. We have to play better and simply develop. Let's also appreciate the victories — concluded Mateusz Skrzypczak. And Michał Probierz himself did not spare praise for him.
