Michał Probierz broke his silence on Lewandowski. Storm among fans

Poland is the leader of Group G in the qualifying round for next year's World Cup. Coach Michał Probierz is therefore in a comfortable position in the context of the upcoming training camp of the Polish national team. Although the style of play of the national team is certainly not impressive. The 1-0 wins over Lithuania and 2-0 over Malta, achieved in March of this year, did not dispel many doubts that hang over the entire term of the current coach.

Michał Probierz openly about Robert Lewandowski's absence

During the Polish national team matches in June, Robert Lewandowski was absent from the team. The captain decided, in agreement with the coach, that he wanted to rest after the hardships of the club season in the ranks of FC Barcelona.

"Dear fans. Considering the circumstances and the intensity of the club season, together with the coach, we decided that this time I will not take part in the June training camp of the Polish national team. Playing in the white and red colors has always been a dream come true for me, but sometimes the body gives a signal that it is necessary to take a break for a moment. I keep my fingers crossed for the boys and I believe that there are still many beautiful moments and goals to achieve ahead of us. See you soon," the captain of the national team wrote on social media at the end of May.

Without Lewandowski, Probierz decided to call up three forwards: Adam Buksa, Karol Świderski and Krzysztof Piątek.

During Monday's press conference, organized in Katowice, to open the national team's training camp, Probierz answered journalists' questions. The one directly related to "Lewy's" absence could not be omitted.

- We have to remember that in the best period, when Cristiano Ronaldo or Zlatan Ibrahimovic were, they also had such moments that the coaches, in talks with them, gave them the opportunity to rest. We have to remember that Robert played almost 4,000 minutes this season and this is the normal course of events. He is also old, we have to respect him and for me, as a coach, it is understandable that we have to look at the good of the player and the good of the national team. As of today, we will play without Robert and we will do everything because all the representatives are ready to win both of these matches - said the coach of Poland during Monday's conference.

There is no hiding the fact that after Lewandowski's decision, both in the media and among fans - a heated discussion about the captain's absence has flared up. In accordance with tradition, there will be opponents and supporters of such a solution in the case of "Lewy".

When does the Polish national team play its next matches?

In the June window, the Poles will play two matches. First, a friendly with Moldova at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów (Friday, June 6, 8:45 p.m.). This will also be a special match for Kamil Grosicki. The experienced midfielder will make his farewell appearance for the national team.

The second match, with much higher stakes, is a clash in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The Poles will face Finland, it will be an away match. The Finland-Poland match will be played in Helsinki (Tuesday, June 10, 8:45 p.m.). The match with the Finns will certainly be very important in the context of the balance of power in the qualifying group.
