Pope Leo XIV got a jersey… Wilfredo Leon! A smile for Polish volleyball

Wilfredo Leon's T-shirt has reached the Vatican and the Pope himself!As it turns out, the Lublin club has no intention of stopping. This time, an unusual, very positive situation occurred. During the so-called Sportsmen's Jubilee. This event, which took place last weekend (i.e. June 14-15). Its aim was to show sport as a space of hope, brotherhood and human development.
The programme included meetings with athletes, passing through the Holy Door and mass with the participation of Pope Leo XIV.
Jakub Wachnik, a volleyball player from Bogdanka LUK, and his wife, who were present at the scene, used this situation in a positive way. What exactly happened? We found out the answer on social media.
"And among the Club's supporters we even have Pope Leo XIV. During the Sportsmen's Jubilee, which took place in the Vatican, Jakub Wachnik presented the Pope with Wilfredo Leon's jersey" - we read on the Polish champions' Instagram profile.
The entry was accompanied by a telling photo showing Pope Leo XIV, smiling from ear to ear, receiving a Bogdanka LUK shirt with the name and number of the biggest star of the Polish champions.

It quickly turned out that the new pope is a great tennis enthusiast . But that's not all. Leo XIV is also a declared fan of the AS Roma football club.

Whenever there was an opportunity to go to the stadium, he did it with joy. He is a big Roma fan and I often tease him. It is worth adding that Leo XIV's predecessor, Pope Francis, was a great fan of sports, especially football, which he played in his youth. He supported San Lorenzo de Almagro from Buenos Aires until the end of his life. The club's president, Marcelo Moretti, wrote an open letter to the media shortly after the death of the most famous fan, informing that a new stadium would be built named after "Pope Francis".
