The end of the championship for the Polish women. The coach spoke out

The Swedish team's victory was fully deserved, as they dominated every aspect of the game. They had more shots, exchanged more passes, and had more possession. The Polish team crossed the halfway line far less often. Goals came from Stina Blackstenius, Kosovare Asllani, and Lina Hurtig.

"Sometimes you could have done better in many situations, but it doesn't happen. That's football. I wouldn't be too harsh. In the second half, we wanted to score goals and play a bit more offensively. As it turns out, we still have a lot of work ahead of us. When you're competing with the best, every pass and shot counts," Patalon said.
In their match against Sweden, the Polish team played timidly from the start and didn't create many chances. Martyna Wiankowska had the only shot on target in the first half, and Milena Kokosz hit the post in stoppage time.
"The defensive approach was a bit different, but the Swedes took possession and it was difficult to recover. We held on for 15 minutes, but the opponent continued to put up a difficult fight. The Swedes were also fighting to advance from the group," the coach announced.
The strength of the Polish team is counter-attacking, but even in a quick attack the White and Reds did not pose a threat.
"In the first half, there was some inaccuracy in our counterattacks because we were in too much of a hurry. In the second half, we were too low and couldn't see the clear lines. The opponent played very well and secured the space. There was always a backstop, which slowed down the attack," Patalon explained.
The coach made three changes from the match against Germany. Oliwia Woś replaced the injured Paulina Dudek in center-back, winger Nadia Krezyman replaced Natalia Padilla, and midfielder Dominika Grabowska replaced Ewelina Kamczyk.
In the match against Sweden, Kamczyk and Padilla were introduced onto the pitch after the break.
"The first match took a lot of effort from Ewelina Kamczyk. In the second half, she had more freedom. That was the idea. We needed a burst of energy in the second half. Natalia Padilla is born to counterattack. She's one of our fastest players. We wanted to score in this match," explained Patalon, who admitted that the first match against Germany took a lot of energy out of her players.
"The changes were well-thought-out. It's a completely different game when the opponent gives us more freedom. We played with great dedication against Germany. The match against Sweden was difficult for us in every respect," she continued.
The Polish team no longer has a chance of advancing to the quarterfinals, having lost 2-0 to Germany on Friday. They have failed to score in two rounds and are still without points.
"After these two matches, we have a lot of experience. No opponent gave up and capitalized on every weak moment," the coach said.
Poland made its debut in the European Championship and was the lowest-ranked team in Group C in the FIFA rankings.
"I always feel very calm. The hard work we've undertaken gives us a chance, but it doesn't guarantee success. We've raised our level in many areas, but it's still clear we need to improve. I'm aware of the international level. We don't have any complexes, but we must maintain a lot of discipline, humility, and perseverance to continue developing," the coach emphasized.
Patalon began her tenure with a loss to Sweden on April 13, 2021. She has been in charge of the national team for over four years.
"It's a constant process. When I started working, I said we had to be patient. In four years, we've accomplished something incredible. Our national team went from a team that didn't have high standards to a fully professional team today. Everything has changed and will continue to change," she stated.
On Saturday, in the third round of the group stage, Poland will face Denmark, which, after two defeats, also has no chance of advancing to the quarterfinals.
