Big problem at Madeira airport. Flights to Poland grounded

Due to the weather breakdown, there were many difficulties in flights in Madeira over the weekend. On Saturday, some planes departed from Funchal airport with a delay, but on Sunday it was necessary to cancel many connections, including to Poland. The reason was gusty winds.
Cancelled flights from Madeira to PolandPAP reported that Wizz Air flights to Gdańsk, Warsaw and Katowice were cancelled, as confirmed by the airport authorities in the capital of Madeira. Each of these flights was scheduled for the afternoon.
As recently as Monday morning, a flight from Funchal to Lisbon, scheduled for 5:50, was canceled. There are no reports of delays for Wizz Air flights to Warsaw and Gdansk. However, the airport warns that it is important to monitor the weather. "Weather forecasts indicate adverse conditions that may affect operations (departures and arrivals) from July 5 to 7. Please contact your airline to confirm the status of your flight before going to the airport," it says on its website.
Funchal Airport is considered one of the most dangerous in the world, regardless of weather conditions. It is located close to the hills and on final approach the wind gusts are very strong. It is from this airport that many videos of aircraft swinging in the wind as they approach for landing come from.
Recently, these problems have been particularly noticeable. Since June 30 , more than 100 flights have been canceled at the airport due to strong winds. In December last year, 33 planes did not land on the island in one day, and two were redirected to the airport on the island in the Madeira archipelago, Porto Santo.
New Zealand also faced a weather crisis in May, with the strongest winds in over a decade causing 200 flights to be cancelled.
