Figueira Beach Rugby with 64 teams from 10 countries

Here comes another Foz Plaza Figueira Beach Rugby International, which will take place on the weekend of June 28th and 29th, on the sands of Buarcos. This year, the 15th edition of the event will feature 64 teams (40 men and 24 women), with a total of 950 athletes from 10 countries (Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Italy, England, Ireland and the United States).

Yesterday, at the event presentation, the organizer and head of the company DoctorSport, Rui Loureiro, was delighted with the success of the event, which he attributed to the convergence of a number of factors: the fact that it was held in Figueira da Foz, a tourist city that always attracts a lot of people during the summer; then, also due to the “sense of community that is shared, with a strong differentiating element being the entertainment and social aspect of the tournament”.

In turn, the Councillor for Sports at Figueira da Foz City Council, Manuel Domingues, highlights the holding of different high-level events. As an example, he recalls that just last week the city experienced another highlight with the “Most Beautiful Race in Portugal”.
