Gominho pays tribute to Preta Gil and celebrates a new phase by climbing a mountain in Rio

TV host Gominho showed his 2.3 million Instagram followers on Tuesday night, the 29th, that he managed to climb Pico das Prateleiras and reach the summit of the rock, 2,460 meters above sea level. The trail is in Itatiaia National Park, in Rio de Janeiro.

The physical challenge comes just days after the wake of one of his best friends, Preta Gil , whom he cared for for two and a half years while the singer was being treated for cancer.

In an interview with Ana Maria Braga, on the same day as his friend's wake, Gominho said that he decided to take care of his own health and lost more than 60 kg thanks to Preta's influence.

"I said, 'I can't possibly want to take care of others and not take care of myself.' And that's when the second metastasis result came back [August 2024] and I started taking care of myself. I started taking medication from September to February and then stopped so I wouldn't get addicted. And since then, I've been maintaining my diet, exercising, and going to bed early," she said on Mais Você.

"I weighed 148 kg and I'm 87 kg now. I was there in Salvador taking care of myself, living my life, training. And then I went to her house and started not taking care of myself as much. The next thing I knew, I was almost 150 kg."

Silence and wind

With improved physical fitness after his weight loss journey, which is about to complete a year, Gominho took on the challenge and reached the Prateleiras Summit. "2,460 meters of silence and wind formed the perfect symphony of my wake-up call," the presenter wrote in the form of a poem.

He continued: "Without fear and with candor, for the wind that blows here blows there. On the summit I dozed so the stone would carry the burden. And I always jumped from stone to stone, so nothing will knock me down. I warn time that I will always be where love is. And for everything I know, I let the wind carry it. And what I will learn, the sound of silence will keep."
