João Vieira shines in the third stage of the DriftWars Cup Trophy, at the Algarve Stadium

Last weekend, the Algarve Stadium was the stage for pure adrenaline and driving mastery, hosting the third stage of the DriftWars Cup Trophy. The event, organized in partnership with TURN 6, also marked the arrival of the PT/BR Intercontinental Cup, reinforcing the event's international dimension. Amid roaring engines and acclaimed stunts screeching the asphalt, João "Janita" Vieira emerged as the overall winner, besting the competition and thrilling the crowd.

The Portuguese driver, already well-known in the national drifting scene, where he debuted at age 14 in 2018, took the top spot on the podium, beating Rafael Ferreira, who finished second, and Thomas Moss, who completed the podium with third place. João Vieira's victory was not only another personal achievement, but also a reflection of the current dynamism of the sport in Portugal, which is gaining more and more fans and projecting the country onto the international drifting scene.

From the very first hours of the event, the entrances to the Algarve Stadium revealed a vibrant atmosphere. Spectators gathered to witness a spectacle that proved to be much more than a simple car race. The asphalt track was specially designed to challenge the drivers' skills and guarantee the audience moments of pure excitement, with tight curves and straights that tested the vehicles' controllability to the limit.

This third stage of the DriftWars Cup was also marked by the presence of major names in international drifting, with special mention for Murilo Sobral, a Brazilian Ultimate Drift driver who was awarded the coveted gold helmet in 2024. His participation raised the competitive level of the event, offering the Portuguese (and other) audience a demonstration of technical excellence and pure spectacle. Drivers of different nationalities shared the track, fostering a healthy exchange of experiences and solidifying the event as a benchmark in the drifting calendar.

The partnerships established for this stage were equally significant. Sponsorships from renowned brands such as RedBull, HP Turbo, LG, Sapo, Bit Motors, Autobrilho, Vonix, and NC Racing reinforced the event's scale and prestige. These collaborations not only enabled the creation of excellent technical conditions but also the implementation of complementary activities that enriched the spectator experience.

A competition that is also automotive culture and entertainment

The DriftWars Cup goes far beyond pure competition. The event was a true celebration of automotive culture, bringing together enthusiasts of all ages and fostering camaraderie over a passion for motorsport. In addition to thrilling drift battles, the program included freestyle and drag racing demonstrations, with a special highlight being the impressive Seat Ibiza Bi-motor from HP Turbo, which drew applause and gasps from the audience, impressing both young and veteran enthusiasts.

The diversity of attractions contributed to a festive atmosphere, open to families and groups of friends, transforming the event into a meeting point for all who see motorsports as a spectacle of sharing, excitement, and technical innovation. The increasingly loyal and numerous audience is living proof of the success and growing popularity of drifting in Portugal. Regardless of age, with activities from "8 to 80."
