Concert scheduled for Friday, August 8th.
On tour around the world, this reggae legend called Alpha Blondy will be in Lisbon next Friday (August 8th) to give a concert at Monsantos Open Air, where he says he is “very excited to sing”.
"I've been to Lisbon many times and I love playing for the Portuguese audience, who are welcoming and have incredible energy," the 72-year-old Ivorian musician told CM , who, on stage, promises to perform "very old songs and some very new ones" from his long career.
Alpha Blondy—who before Portugal toured Japan, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Venezuela, Belgium, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom—assures me he's not tired. "When you truly love what you do, there's no fatigue. Sharing my music with people, feeling the love they give at concerts, is an experience that energizes me," he reveals.
After Lisbon, the singer will travel to Brittany and return home for two months of vacation. But he's always creating—something that's absolutely "essential" to him. "I have a studio at home, so it's very easy for me to call the rest of my musicians and create new music," he explains. And when we talk about the many awards he's already won, he downplays it. "Being with the public is the best thing that's ever happened to me. Much better than any award," he concludes.
