Man convicted of child sexual abuse

According to the ruling, published on the website of the Porto District Attorney General's Office and consulted today by the Lusa news agency, the victim's parents were sentenced as accomplices to a single sentence of three years in prison, suspended for the same period, for a crime of aggravated child sexual abuse and a crime of aggravated sexual acts with adolescents.
The defendants were tried by the panel of judges of the Vila Real Judicial Court and the ruling was dated June 16.
At issue are sexual conducts committed by a defendant, who was the victim's boyfriend, which began when she was 13 years old and continued until she was 14 years old.
The situation occurred between May and June 2024, in the house where the victim lived with her parents and where her boyfriend sometimes stayed overnight.
The defendant parents were accused of allowing their daughter's boyfriend, who was eight years older than her, to spend the night at their residence, "expecting to assist the young man in committing sexual acts with their daughter and accepting such a result."
The victim presented a “particular emotional vulnerability” and is being held in an institution as part of a promotion and protection measure that was applied to him.
According to the ruling, the defendant boyfriend was convicted, as the perpetrator, of two crimes of child sexual abuse and one crime of sexual acts with an adolescent, with a single sentence of five years' imprisonment suspended for the same period, but subject to a probationary regime, that is, attendance of rehabilitation programs for child sexual offenders.
He will also have to pay the injured party three thousand euros, an amount that corresponds to part of the civil compensation set at six thousand euros, and which the defendant was obliged to pay for the non-pecuniary damages caused.
The parents must also attend rehabilitation programs for child sex offenders and each pay the daughter 1,200 euros, corresponding to part of the civil compensation set at four thousand euros, which the defendants were obliged to pay for the non-pecuniary damages caused.
