Man wanted in Spain detained by GNR
The 51-year-old man was issued a European arrest warrant by the Spanish judicial authorities. The GNR managed to locate and arrest him in the municipality of Chaves on the 16th.
The detainee was eventually handed over to the Spanish authorities and will serve a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence.
The Vila Real Territorial Command reported today in a statement that, “following an alert”, the Guard's military personnel carried out police investigations “which allowed the individual to be located and his arrest to be carried out, in compliance with the aforementioned warrant”.
The detainee was brought before the Guimarães Judicial Court, which ordered his handover to the Spanish authorities, to serve an effective sentence of two years and eight months.
