SeaWatch crew rescues two women at the Cacela Velha bar

Two 40-year-old Spanish women were rescued on Monday afternoon, August 11, by members of the Tavira SeaWatch Project after being swept away by the current at the Cacela Velha bar in the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António. The incident occurred in an unmonitored area.
According to the National Maritime Authority (AMN) , during surveillance operations, members of the "SeaWatch" Project detected a woman in difficulty in the water and another attempting to cross, also at risk due to the current. The victims were promptly rescued and transported to land, where they were safely evacuated, without requiring medical assistance.
The AMN has once again reinforced its advice against bathing in the Cacela Velha area due to the dangers it poses.
