The Great Debate: Does the Israel-Iran Ceasefire Empower Trump?

Commentator José Eduardo Cardozo and political scientist Magno Karl discussed, this Monday (23), in O Grande Debate (from Monday to Friday, at 11 pm), whether the ceasefire between Israel and Iran strengthens the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the two countries had agreed to a "complete and total" ceasefire.
Cardozo believes that, regardless of any repercussions, the US president acted illegally.
“We saw that Donald Trump did not obtain authorization from the National Congress, which is an internal violation. He attacked nuclear facilities, which is prohibited by international law, because it could put the civilian population at risk with radiation. It was an absolutely irresponsible act,” he said.
“That it was an illegal attack is indisputable, whether from the point of view of international law or from the point of view of US law,” he argued.
Karl understands that, if the ceasefire comes to fruition, Trump will emerge stronger.
“The main strength that Trump values in himself is the ability to build deals. He wrote a book called The Art of the Deal, so it’s a very strong value within Trump’s vision. Especially because the deliberate action of the US in attacking Iran has divided Trump’s base,” he said.
“With a potential ceasefire, he strengthens his base, even among those who were unhappy with the direct actions of the US,” he said.
