UN General Assembly approves resolution for Ukrainian territorial unity

The United Nations (UN) General Assembly today approved, with the support of 93 countries, a non-binding resolution that demands an end to hostilities in Ukraine and reaffirms Ukraine's sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity.
The resolution in question, presented by Ukraine and the European Union, received 93 votes in favor, 18 against - including from the United States - and 65 abstentions from the 193 UN member states.
The European text reiterates the demand that Russia immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw all its military forces from Ukraine.
The United States subsequently put its own resolution on the war in Ukraine to a vote at the UN General Assembly, calling for lasting peace between Moscow and Kiev and imploring a swift end to the conflict.
