August in Albufeira is synonymous with the Chicken, Sardine, Land and Snack Festival

August is once again a lively month in Albufeira, with a gastronomic calendar bringing three options to the municipality to celebrate the best of the region's culture and typical flavors.
The Guia Chicken Festival kicks off on Thursday, July 30th and, for five days (until August 3rd), the Guia Sports Centre will be transformed into a stage for celebration and tradition.
The event takes place between 7:00 pm and 2:00 am, jointly organized by Guia Futebol Clube and the Guia Parish Council, with the support of Albufeira City Council and local businesses.
The 36th edition of the event, in addition to showcasing one of the region's most iconic delicacies, features a diverse musical lineup designed for all ages.
The party opens with the sounds of Emanuel and Tânia, followed by Brazilian artist Iran Costa.
On the 31st, Ruben Filipe and David Antunes & The Midnight Band will take the stage, and on August 1st, Rui & Miguel and MTRock the 80's will perform. The following day, Valter Cabrita Band and José Francisco, a contestant on the television show "The Voice," will guarantee the party.
On the last day of the Guia Chicken Festival, Band Dalila David Brito will perform on stage.
At the same time, outside the venue, the 17th Crafts Exhibition takes place, promoting the talent and products of local artisans.
The following week, from August 7th to 9th, it is the turn of the 26th Sardine Festival to take place at the venue next to the boat ramp, on Olhos de Água Beach.
Starting at 8:00 pm, and with free entry, the event combines the authentic flavor of grilled sardines with moments of fellowship and tradition, with popular music and outdoor dances.
The lineup includes Duo 64 (August 7), Ritmos do Sul (August 8) and Mário Neves and Rancho Folclórico de Olhos de Água (August 9).
To close the month, on the 23rd and 24th of August, the Land and Snack Fair will be held in Ferreiras, in the parking lot of the Ferreiras Football Club Sports Centre.
The event, dedicated to local flavors, knowledge and traditions, is organized by the Ferreiras Parish Council , with the support of Albufeira City Council, local businesses and several associations in the parish.
The musical program begins on the 23rd, with David Brito and the Rancho Folclórico de Albufeira preceding Quina Barreiros' concert. On August 24th, the highlight is Helena Correia, who performs after Emanuel and Tânia.
José Carlos Rolo, Mayor of Albufeira, emphasizes the importance of these events for the municipality, "since, in addition to boosting the local economy and promoting the municipality's products and traditions, they are also privileged moments for generations, tourists and residents, to meet in an environment where tranquility and hospitality, so characteristic of the local people, reign."
