Cultural walks in SP reveal the city's Italian heritage

The Italian Institute of Culture of São Paulo (IICSP ) announces a series of tours with professional tour guide Giuliano Orlando, who invites the public to discover the marks of Italian immigration in the artistic, historical and cultural heritage of the capital of São Paulo. "Italian Cultural Itineraries in São Paulo" takes place from May to August and features two walking tours through the historic center and the Higienópolis neighborhood.
In the first proposal, "Italian artistic, historical and cultural heritage of downtown São Paulo", starting next Saturday (24), participants will be able to understand the profound influence of Italian culture on the formation of modern São Paulo, especially since the events of the Second World War and the post-war period. During the tour, Orlando will reveal landmarks and buildings that bear witness to the active presence of the Italian community in the city center.
Always from 10 am to 12 pm, the route will take place again on June 9th and August 4th, with the meeting on May 24th being part of the Virada Cultural 2025 program in the capital of São Paulo.
In "Journey between modernist architecture and plastic art in the Higienópolis neighborhood", the highlight is the contrast between the architectural modernism of the 1960s and the funerary art of the early 20th century, visible in cemeteries and buildings in the region.
"Higienópolis, which houses the Italian Institute of Culture, is a notable example of the contribution of Italian architects and sculptors in the formation of the urban landscape of São Paulo", reinforces the IICSP in a statement.
The neighborhood tours will take place on May 31, June 21 and July 12, always from 10 am to 12 pm.
IICSP informs that to participate in any of the courses you must register in advance on its website: iicsanpaolo.esteri.it . Places are limited.
