Israeli Air Force Commander Killed in Iran?

Israeli Air Force Commander Killed in Iran?

Dozens of posts are circulating on social media, particularly on Facebook and Threads, claiming that an Israeli Air Force commander was killed in combat in Iran. “A child killer eliminated. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard killed the commander of the Israeli Air Force, Major General Tomer Bara,” reads one of the posts, accompanied by a photo of the alleged Israeli soldier.

Major General Tomer Bara, 56, is the current commander of the Israeli Air Force, one of the largest and most robust in the world. The soldier has a long career in the Israel Defense Forces, having enlisted in it at just 18 years of age. For many years, he was an F-16 and F-15 fighter pilot and commanded a squadron during the second Lebanon war in 2006. He also commanded military operations of the Air Force in Syria and the Gaza Strip. In 2010, he was appointed head of the flight academy and held various positions in the organization until, in 2002, he was appointed commander of the Air Force, the highest position in the hierarchy.

It is under his supervision that Israel has been carrying out an airborne military operation against Iran since June 13. “Our presence now in western Iran is critical, and every [missile] launcher we dismantle at this moment is saving lives in the State of Israel. Working professionally, objectively, humbly and in cooperation, we will achieve our goals. I trust you. Keep going,” Tomer Bara wrote in a message to the military published on the IDF website.

Since Israel began its offensive against Iran (aimed at dismantling the ayatollahs' regime's nuclear program), Iran has not officially claimed any casualties among the Israeli military — despite Iranian authorities claiming to have captured two F-35 fighter pilots alive who reportedly ejected when the fighter planes they were flying were hit.

There is no news in the international media reporting any combat casualties on the Israeli side. Furthermore, it is impossible that Tomer Bara was killed in combat, since the commander of the Israeli Air Force (like the Chief of Staff of the Portuguese Air Force, for example) does not directly participate in military operations.

Conclusion

Israeli Air Force Commander Tomer Bara was not killed in combat in Iran. There is no news to that effect, nor would it be possible, since the top commander of the Israeli Air Force does not participate in combat actions on the ground.
