Music, dance and tradition once again mark the nights of the bathing season in Albufeira

The municipality of Albufeira is preparing to start another season of the Bathing Season Entertainment programme, between the 18th of June and the 10th of September, where several initiatives are expected.

The aim is to provide residents and tourists with a diverse programme based on what the municipality has to offer, during the months of greatest demand.

Music concerts, dance performances, capoeira demonstrations and much more. The Albufeira Summer Season Entertainment programme includes a diverse range of initiatives designed to liven up the summer evenings in the historic part of the city.

José Carlos Rolo, Mayor of Albufeira , highlights the “importance of the bathing season for the municipality’s economy”.

For the mayor, “it is essential to ensure harmony between a fundamental pillar for the development of the municipality and the well-being of our population. That is why we sought to make the bathing season entertainment programme an opportunity to showcase the best that Albufeira has to offer”, he adds.

Over the course of almost three months, Largo Eng.º Duarte Pacheco will host more than a dozen events.

The program starts on Wednesday, June 18th, with performances by FUETE – Albufeira Dance Academy, and the Marchas Populares de Paderne.

The calendar continues throughout the summer with diverse performances.

To close out the month of June, the highlight will be the performance by the traditional Portuguese music group Al-Buhera (on the 25th).

Several evenings will follow over the following months. In July, the historic centre will host performances by the dance groups LUEL – Arte em Movimento (2nd) and SOUL Academia (9th). The following week (16th), the stage will host the Marcha Popular da Casa do Povo do Concelho de Olhão, and members of the Ballroom and Sports Dances of FC Ferreiras.

To end the month, there will also be a performance by the traditional singing collective Entretenga (23rd) and a Capoeira demonstration by Grupo Muzenza (30th).

Performances by Rancho Folclórico de Albufeira (6th) and Banda Alhada (13th) are scheduled for August.

At the end of the month, it is the turn of the FC Ferreiras Oriental Dances to take to the stage on August 27th. Returning to tradition, the Algoz Folklore Group will perform on September 3rd.

The Beach Season Entertainment programme in Albufeira ends on 10th September, with a performance by the local band «Os Naira».
