The PSD National Council will meet on May 29 to formally vote on the party's support for Luís Marques Mendes' presidential candidacy, on the same day that Gouveia e Melo presents himself for Belém.

According to the call from the PSD National Council, published in Povo Livre (the party's official newspaper) this Wednesday, the meeting's agenda will include the analysis of the political situation , the presentation, discussion and voting of the 2024 Management and Accounts Report and “support for the candidacy for President of the Republic” .

Although the call does not mention any names, several PSD leaders, including president Luís Montenegro, have already made it clear that they will propose to the party that it support its former leader Luís Marques Mendes, who presented his candidacy at the beginning of February for the presidential elections in January next year.
