The show «From the Trees» takes to the stage at the Teatro das Figuras in Faro

The Teatro das Figuras , in Faro, is preparing to host the show «Das Árvores», on Thursday, May 28th.

Created and written by Sofia Santana and performed by Laura Frederico, Maria Leonardo and Sofia Santana, «Das Árvores» is a project based on a hybrid theatre show, based on research into trees as natural, cultural and emotional heritage, which aims to encourage the audience to put themselves in perspective and reflect on concepts of time and longevity, with the immeasurable value of this treasure of our humanity as its central element.

With trees as the starting point and symbol of the entire ecological system, this is a piece that aims, above all, to confront the audience with their own existence, with the concept of finitude and with the evolution of civilizations over time.

«Of their habits, their customs, their time that passes so quickly and the phenomenon that occurs in a time where at the same time trees are born, trees die and trees resist a constant and growing urban hunger, which, without mercy, wants to swallow them up», according to the synopsis.

The portrait of a heritage that insists on resisting and that must be preserved, reminding us, as the play’s synopsis says, that “in this country, some trees resist. For more than three thousand years, a tree has resisted. Das Árvores explores the memories and reflections that surround these trees, protagonists of portraits, through our human experience. Time does not stop, physical space transforms, ideas alternate. People come and go. In a seemingly endless cycle, some trees watch.”

After debuting in Castelo Branco and passing through Idanha-a-Nova, the show, which has the involvement of a complete team, such as Nuno Barroca in video design; Jorge Gomes Ribeiro in lighting design; Aboo Gabi in sound and Marta Fernandes da Silva in set design, now arrives in Faro, and will then tour some cities in the country such as Portalegre, Caldas da Rainha, Lisbon, among others.
