Thousands of visitors enjoyed regional sweets at the Arte Doce Fair in Lagos

For five days, the 36th edition of the Arte Doce Competition Fair attracted thousands of visitors and welcomed dozens of exhibitors, in a celebration of traditional Algarve sweets.
With a diverse program that included live music, show cooking , children's entertainment and, of course, lots of sweets, the event once again established itself as one of the highlights of the summer in the Algarve.
This year, the theme "Meeting of Cultures for Peace" was the center of attention, not only as inspiration for the confectionery competition, but also reflected in the showcookings , the presence of exhibitors from various regions of the country (with special emphasis on Beira Interior, the guest region), and the cultural diversity of the artists who took to the stage.
On the main stage, names like Maninho, Os Quatro e Meia, Bárbara Tinoco, Ivandro and Sara Correia filled the venue night after night, creating memorable moments.
Between stalls, crafts and regional products, the true heart of the event remained the dedication and mastery of the confectioners, who delighted the thousands of visitors with delicacies typical of the Algarve and other regions.
As usual, Lagos City Council distinguished the best in the categories of "Sweet Art" (mandatory theme and free theme), "Quality in Tradition" and "Innovative Sweets", recognizing the talent and creativity of the participants, while promoting regional gastronomy and encouraging the passing on of knowledge to new generations.
"The results are very positive and once again reinforces Lagos' role as an excellent tourist and cultural destination. The municipality extends a special thanks to all visitors, participants, services, and entities involved, with special affection for the confectioners who continue to keep our traditions alive," the municipality notes.
