Small businesses boost: Central Bank raises GDP projection to 2.1% in 2025

The expectation for growth in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for 2025 has been raised, according to the Central Bank. This Thursday (26), the agency published the Monetary Policy Report in which it projects a growth of 2.1% in the sum of wealth generated by the country at the end of this year. At the end of the first quarter, the expectation was for an increase of 1.9%.
The advance was mainly due to the strong expansion of 1.4% between January and March, agricultural production and the job market, which remains buoyant. – driven, especially, by small businesses, which are responsible for around 65% of the jobs created to date.
The data reinforces that we are on the right path, led by President Lula and Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, who have the firm purpose of including the people in the budget. With this, small businesses, which are essential to the Brazilian economy as they represent about 27% of the national GDP and account for more than half of the formal jobs in the country, benefit from this positive scenario that stimulates family consumption.
Decio Lima, president of Sebrae.
In the report, the Central Bank highlighted that the labor market showed a more intense recovery than anticipated at the beginning of the second quarter. “Small businesses are drivers of economic inclusion, generating jobs and innovation, contributing to the diversification and resilience of the national economy,” adds the president of Sebrae.
