Wall Street starts the session without direction

The three main US indexes opened the session without direction, with the Dow Jones index being the only one to register losses.
New York opened Tuesday's session in mixed territory, with investors assessing the US president's new decision on trade tariffs.
The Dow Jones index was the only one to record losses at the start of the session, with a drop of 0.16%, to 44,335.11 points. The S&P 500 advanced 0.01%, to 6,228.75 points, and the Nasdaq increased 0.15%, to 20,445.18 points.
Chevron gained 0.63%, followed by 3M, which increased 0.61%. Nvidia grew 0.57% and UnitedHealth added 0.39%. In the opposite direction, JPMorgan fell 1.72%, Nike lost 2%, Coca-Cola slipped 1.07% and Goldman Sachs slipped 1.15%.
Millennium Investment Banking market analyst Ramiro Loureiro says that “Wall Street is starting off slightly higher globally, even though the Dow Jones industrial average is weaker. The executive order that Donald Trump is expected to postpone the tariff deadline from July 9 to August 1 could give rise to the desire to reach an understanding with his partners to mitigate additional customs duties that may be introduced.”
“Renewable energy stocks such as Enphase, Sunrun and First Solar are being pressured by news that the US president has called for new rules to restrict access to tax incentives for solar and wind projects,” he says.
In the oil market, Texas WTI lost 0.31%, setting the price per barrel at $67.70, and Brent fell 0.19% to $69.46. Natural gas fell 1.61% to $3.357.
On the foreign exchange market, the euro depreciated 0.05% against the dollar, settling at 1.1701 dollars.
