Camélias Classic Rally returns to Sintra and Torres Vedras

The Sintra mountain range will host another stage of the Camélias Classic Rally on Saturday, an event that brings together classic cars that will travel through the municipalities of Cascais, Sintra, Mafra and Torres Vedras over the weekend.
According to a statement from the Sintra City Council, the Camélias Classic Rally kicks off on Saturday, “in the Sintra mountains, with challenging sections, including the famous Peninha road, Pé da Serra, Largo dos Capuchos and Lagoa Azul”, finishing next to the National Palace of Sintra, “an imposing setting that marks the conclusion of the first day of the event”.
The rally, on Sunday, starts at Terreiro Rainha D. Amélia, next to the National Palace of Sintra, and “heads towards Torres Vedras, where the diverse routes will decide the winners, challenging the drivers to test both their driving skills and their knowledge of the beautiful landscapes”.
The event will cause traffic disruptions in Terreiro da Rainha D. Amélia between 9:00 PM and 11:59 PM on Saturday, and from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Sunday. No road closures are planned during the competition.
The Camélias Classic Rally, organized by the Setúbal Motor Club, has become one of the main highlights of the National Historic Regularity Championship , standing out for its routes that cross the municipalities from Cascais to Torres Vedras.
Comprising two stages, three sessions and 21 regularity sectors, the race has a total distance of approximately 265 kilometers.
According to the Sintra City Council, which supports the initiative, the event "is one of the most emblematic motorsport events in Portugal" and, "in addition to the high-level competition," "promotes tourism and culture in the regions where it takes place" and positions itself "as one of the biggest events on the national sporting calendar."
