Ian Cathro wants Estoril focused on the match against Arouca.

The Estoril Praia coach said this Thursday that the team wants to achieve its second consecutive victory against Arouca, in the 11th round of the I Liga football championship, but reminded everyone that one can only play one game at a time.
“This season we’ve already gone through things that shouldn’t have happened, but looking ahead, we can’t start planning for the future because it’s impossible to play four or five games at once. We live game by game and we have the ability to play with confidence, but it’s difficult when we don’t feel the support of the result,” explained Ian Cathro, guaranteeing that the “team will play with confidence, courage and without fear.”
In the press conference previewing the game against Arouca, the Scottish coach recalled the match against Rio Ave, which the "canaries" won 4-0, praised the work done, but stressed that "he doesn't sell dreams".
“The team was already doing its job, but that has to be put into practice with the ball going into the net. That happened, it changes the perception, but we continue to work,” said the coach, admitting that a less successful game against Arouca could put his position at risk.
"In a few games, people have asked me if I'm fit to continue. I feel I'm fit to continue, but I know that question might come up at the end of this game," he admitted.
Regarding Friday's opponent, Arouca, Cathro anticipates a hard-fought match.
“Everyone here respects Arouca’s work, for their identity, their possession-based solutions, the way they understand their opponents and try to escape pressure. They are a team that knows how to defend, show an aggressive side, and have the will to achieve results, just like us,” concluded the coach who is in his second consecutive season managing Estoril.
Estoril Praia, currently 12th in the standings with 10 points, will host Arouca, 15th with nine points, on Friday at 8:15 pm at the Estádio António Coimbra da Mota. The match will be officiated by Cláudio Pereira from the Aveiro association.
