The football event of the Associação Desportiva de Taboeira was marked by the improvement in organizational quality, witnessed by all those involved in the competition

The 30th edition of the Aveiro Cup came to an end with a closing ceremony at the Aveiro Municipal Stadium, full of excitement and colour. More than the prizes or winners, the highlight was the presence of hundreds of athletes and fans from all over the country, including Madeira and the Azores, Spain and Dubai. The ceremony, which began immediately after the end of all the finals of the seven levels of the event, was attended by the president of the Aveiro City Council, Ribau Esteves, Ângela Almeida, from the Esgueira Parish Council, Carla Ferreira, from Glicínias Plaza, the event's official partner, and Rodolfo Vieira, one of the godparents.

Municipal flag For Ribau Esteves, the Aveiro Cup is “an important event for the municipality”, essentially because it is “much more than just a football tournament”. “This is one of the region’s landmark events, which brings a unique atmosphere to the city, which is filled with young people, their families and people coming from all over these days. Then, and very importantly, are the values it conveys, of solidarity, citizenship and fair play. For the local authority, it makes perfect sense to be a partner and the Taboeira Sports Association can count on us”.

From the parish of Esgueira, Ângela Almeida, highlights “all the work done by Taboeira” to promote the “city and parish to which it belongs”, with a tournament that shows a path: “these young people who participate in the Aveiro Cup every year are the future, and they grow with the values of sport and respect. This ceremony clearly demonstrates this spirit of unity and solidarity”.

Inspiration, resilience and work… For Carla Ferreira, from Glicínias Plaza, “this football festival”, which is the Aveiro Cup, means “a lot of energy and emotion” for five days. “It is very important to see so many athletes, so many teams and so many families living the sport together, with respect and dedication, in an event that is truly inspiring”.
