MOSCOW, May 20 - RIA Novosti. In order to work effectively and safely with new foreign partners, Russian businessmen need to adhere to several basic recommendations: carefully check their integrity and that of their entourage in advance, and also draw up a contract competently - firmly but flexibly protecting their interests, Magomed Yangulbi, founder of the GR-legal company Yang Consult, told RIA Novosti. "One of the most common mistakes of Russian businessmen is focusing on the "facade" and not on the beneficiary. We recommend that our clients check not only the legal entity with which they are going to do business, but also pay close attention to the four pillars: the real owner who has leverage over the business of your potential foreign partner, the business ownership structure, including affiliation with other businesses, the country where the foreign partner has assets and accounts, the connections that the foreign partner has - political, business," Yangulbi recommends. Before starting work with companies from countries with unstable politics or a high level of secrecy, such as Iran, Syria, Lebanon, and part of Turkey, it is advisable to collect more information about potential partners. In particular, the lawyer advises finding out who is behind this business, how public the business itself is, how it is presented in the public space, what is the reputation of the business in its home country, whether the business is on the sanctions list, in gray schemes, or under diplomatic surveillance. The expert also urges to maintain a balance: to prescribe the most stringent conditions in documents, protecting your interests on paper, while being ready to show flexibility. "In many cultures (China, UAE, Iran), it is not customary to set "strict limits" at the first stages of negotiations. Focus on building reliable personal contact with partners, while providing yourself with serious legal protection in case of force majeure," he recommends.
