"Today, a large-scale project in a unique format is being implemented in (Khabarovsk - ed.) Krai: joint development of the transboundary Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island with the Chinese side. In May 2024, in Beijing, in the presence of our leaders, a unified concept for the joint development of the island was signed. The prospects for cooperation that open up in this regard will be discussed in detail at the forum," Lavrov noted. The Russian-Chinese forum is being held in Khabarovsk on May 19-20 under the motto "Bolshoy Ussuriysky: cooperation in the joint development of the island." More than 3 thousand applications have been received for participation in the event from representatives of businesses, government agencies and creative industries from Russia and China. Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island, with a total area of more than 250 square kilometers, is located on the Amur River in Russia and China. The territory is at the intersection of international transport corridors of the Far East and Northeast China. The area of the Russian part of the island is 174 square kilometers. Here in 2014 a bridge was put into operation, connecting it with the Khabarovsk agglomeration. The other part was transferred to China together with Tarabarov Island on the Amur in 2008.
