PETERSBURG, June 20 - RIA Novosti. Russian nuclear projects abroad are transforming the countries where they are being implemented. For example, Bangladesh is turning into an industrial country thanks to Russian nuclear technology, IAEA Deputy Director General Mikhail Chudakov told RIA Novosti. "Nuclear energy is transforming these countries. You will see how everything will change. It is already changing. Bangladesh is turning into an industrial country thanks to Russian nuclear technology and stations. Four power units will change the development of Egypt. Russia's nuclear technology is advanced. Russia builds more abroad than other countries, even combined," Chudakov told the agency on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. He drew attention to the fact that competing nuclear powers are almost never building nuclear power plants abroad. "Who is building there? Almost no one is building abroad. China has built power units in Pakistan. Well, that's all. Many proposals. Korea has built in the Emirates and is now rushing around with its proposals. A number of countries are proposing a water-cooled reactor: a thousand- or million-power reactor (a million kilowatts, a thousand megawatts), but without having it in reality. That is, they do not have a pilot project built at home. I have repeatedly pointed out to them that a unit built as a pilot is different from a project. And one built after the pilot is also different from the pilot. First, build it here, prove that it will be operated reliably, safely and efficiently, and then sell it. They are already negotiating with the Czech Republic and a number of African countries about this project," the IAEA Deputy Director General noted. The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is being held from June 18 to 21. RIA Novosti is the forum's information partner.
