Some of the architectural elements of the Petrovsky Cemetery are being restored in factory conditions

In Veliky Novgorod, builders continue the restoration of the Church of Peter and Paul on Sinichya Gora , as well as the improvement of the territory of the Petrovsky Cemetery , where it is located. Let us recall that the large-scale renovation of the historical site became possible thanks to the support of the President of Russia and regional authorities, and the city itself is currently carrying out comprehensive restoration work on the 18th century site - the chapel-tomb of the Berg family and the restoration of the historical appearance of the ancient Petrovsky Cemetery.

After the traditional construction headquarters in the regional government, the mayor of Veliky Novgorod, Alexander Rozbaum, visited a number of city sites, also inspecting the work at the cemetery.

According to the contractor's representative, all the brickwork and vault of the chapel have already been restored, the metal roof structures have been repaired, and a cross has been made and installed:

" The cross was made taking into account the surviving elements, they are integrated into the new product. The doors to the chapel are also authentic. They were restored in factory conditions, all historical elements were preserved as much as possible ."

In their work, the builders constantly consult with Novgorod historians.

At the stage of preparation for restoration is the fence, which also has historical value. At the moment, the fence bars have been carefully dismantled, the site has been prepared, and a trench has been dug. The builders hope to completely restore the fence to its original appearance.

In turn, the mayor of Veliky Novgorod emphasized: the Petrovskoye Cemetery as Novgorodians know it from historical pictures should be recreated in the same form.
