ST. PETERSBURG, June 19 - RIA Novosti. The creative economy in the Russian Federation is becoming an independent segment, the share of creative industries in Russia's GDP should reach 6% by 2030, said Alexey Govyrin (United Russia faction), a member of the State Duma Committee on Small and Medium-Sized Entrepreneurship and Chairman of the Expert Council under the committee. "The creative economy in Russia is ceasing to be a niche area and is becoming an independent segment that is forming new contours of territorial development. This is not just a cultural and artistic sector, but a full-fledged system where ideas and technologies become assets, and spatial policy is restructured taking into account socio-cultural factors," he said at the session "New Philosophy of Economic Growth of Territories: Value-Oriented Creative Economy" as part of the SPIEF. According to the deputy, in 2023, the share of creative industries in Russia's GDP was 3.5%, according to Rosstat, and in 2024 it exceeded 4%. "By 2030, according to the target, it should reach 6%. This increase is accompanied not only by income growth, but also by institutional changes: the federal law "On the Development of Creative Industries" was adopted in August 2024, the development of a strategy until 2036 has begun, and the contours of the support infrastructure in the form of registries, competence centers, and subsidized programs have been formed," he concluded. The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is being held from June 18 to 21. The main theme of the SPIEF in 2025 is "Common Values - the Basis for Growth in a Multipolar World."
