In an interview with The Telegraph, Johnny Depp spoke openly about his difficult relationship with his mother, Betty Sue Palmer, who passed away in 2016. The actor shared intimate memories, describing his mother as a woman with a stern character and a predisposition to aggressive behavior.
Depp, 62, said his childhood was marred by constant rages and brutal abuse from his mother.
"She hit me with a fucking stick, a shoe, an ashtray, a phone - I didn't care. But now I'm grateful to her for it. She taught me how not to raise children. Just do everything the other way around," Johnny admitted.
According to the artist, the experience left a deep imprint on his fate. Physical violence, cruel treatment – all this was an everyday reality. His mother could pass by, and he had to protect himself from blows, because he did not know what would happen next.
At the age of sixteen, the young man decided to leave his father's house and go to Los Angeles. To support himself, he took jobs on construction sites, worked as a courier, and sold fountain pens.
