An unusual creature with brightly colored bristles washed ashore in the British county of Suffolk, The Sun reports.
A couple walking their dog was attracted by an animal about 15 centimeters long, which resembled something alien in appearance.
This creature was later identified as a large marine worm from the Aphroditidae family. These creatures inhabit the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea and often end up on shore after storms.
Adult members of the Aphroditidae family typically reach a length of 7.5–15 centimeters, but individual specimens can grow up to 30 centimeters. The worm's body is covered with parapodia and setae; it has no eyes. The dorsal setae are usually red, but under certain lighting conditions, they can change to green and blue.
Americans previously faced an invasion of flesh-eating "demonic" worms.
