More and more technology in banks. The weakest link is still the human

Volodymyr Radin, Vice President of the Management Board of BNP Paribas Bank, was a guest at the 17th European Economic Congress in Katowice. We talked to him about how bank customers deal with technological solutions and about issues related to cybersecurity.

This is already a common need in retail banking.

- It is said that the level of technological adaptation among bank customers depends on the age group, that younger ones are more willing to use mobile banking. This is not entirely true, especially in Poland, because currently customers from almost every age category adapt very quickly to all new solutions in banking, and even require them from banks - says Volodymyr Radin, vice-president of BNP Paribas bank.

It indicates that in Poland, having a banking application on the phone is already a basic customer need , regardless of age.

Huge investments are not enough. It is the human who guarantees cybersecurity

The expert noted that while working in a large banking group, he sees statistics on cyberattacks on banks. Radin confirms that their number is still growing, and the fraudsters themselves are becoming more sophisticated in their attempts at all kinds of frauds.

- Cybersecurity is currently the most important investment area for every bank. A lot of money is being invested in this area. However, in addition to properly secured software, we also need to take care of customer awareness. Because in the entire cybersecurity ecosystem, humans are the weakest point . That is why we need, above all, education, guiding customers towards minimizing risk - indicates the vice-president of BNP Paribas.
