During long-term observations of Antarctica, scientists have recorded a surprising trend: after three years of active reduction, the ice cover has suddenly begun to recover. The details are provided by the information portal Tsargrad.

“According to data provided by Chinese scientists, the increase is an average of 108 gigatons per year... The growth of the ice cover may be temporary and be the result of local weather conditions, rather than evidence of global climate change,” Tsargrad noted.

This dynamic has been particularly pronounced in East Antarctica, where previously problematic areas have begun to show signs of stabilization. Since 2023, glaciation has been restored in the Wilkes Land region, as well as on the Denman, Totten, and Moscow University glaciers.

The key underlying cause of this process was record snowfalls, which partially compensated for the losses observed by scientists in previous years. However, climatologists warn that, despite the encouraging data, it is too early to talk about long-term stabilization of weather changes on the planet.

Perhaps, restoring the natural state of the North and South Poles of the Earth will help to avoid many probable natural disasters. Earlier it became known about another giant iceberg that broke off, which could lead to the flooding of two European countries.
