CHP's "shady congress" crisis! Lütfü Savaş files criminal complaint against Özel and İmamoğlu

Following the "shady convention" in the CHP, allegations that CHP members were given bags of dollars and that some were promised positions or jobs were brought to the agenda by CHP members who witnessed the convention. Following these allegations, former Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş filed a lawsuit with the Ankara Civil Court of First Instance for the cancellation of the CHP 38th Ordinary Convention. Another noteworthy move came from Savaş after the lawsuit.

In his complaint petition submitted through his lawyer Onur Yusuf Üregen, Savaş reminded that his client filed a lawsuit with the Ankara 31st Civil Court of First Instance for the immediate suspension of the current CHP Central Executive Board, Party Assembly and High Disciplinary Board and the cancellation of the congress.

CRIMINAL COMPLAINT FROM SAVAŞ AGAINST ÖZEL AND İMAMOĞLU

Following this, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel described Savaş as a "pawn" in his statements to the press, and the petition included the following statements: "Özgür Özel compared his client to a pawn due to the congress annulment case he filed and stated that someone was directing his client. Özel openly offended his client's honor, dignity and respect with the words he used."

In the petition, an investigation was launched against Özel for the crime of "insult".

"THE WILL OF THE DELEGATES HAS BEEN DISABLED"

In another petition submitted by Lawyer Üregen to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that the will of the delegates was impaired when Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was the chairman of the board at the 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP on November 4-5, 2023, said that Kılıçdaroğlu withdrew while giving a speech after the first round of voting.

The petition stated, "During the period between the two meetings of the convention and as soon as the second meeting started, many people were given false information that Kılıçdaroğlu had withdrawn his candidacy, thus directing the will of the delegates and preventing the fair operation of the election process. It is clearly seen that the chairman of the council made unlawful interventions during this process and that the free will of the delegates was violated."

REQUEST FOR EXPERT EXAMINATION

In the petition, which alleged that public duties were used as bribes during the congress process and that public resources were distributed for political purposes, it was requested that legal and criminal proceedings be initiated against the relevant names, that the congress election results be examined due to the impairment of the delegates' will, and that an expert examination be conducted regarding the unlawfulness of the election process.

The petition requested that an investigation be launched against İmamoğlu for "forgery of official documents," "abuse of office," and "publicly disseminating misleading information to the public."
