CHP: Neither CHP nor millions will allow İmamoğlu to be eliminated
Deniz Yücel, in the press conference he held after the Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting held at the party headquarters under the chairmanship of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, argued that insecurity and anxiety in every field were being magnified by the government.
Criticizing AK Party Deputy Chairman Mustafa Elitaş's statements regarding the economy, Yücel said, "Mr. Elitaş has come up and said, 'If a higher raise is given to low-income people, there will be economic imbalances in the long run.' What kind of an eclipse of reason are you experiencing? What kind of blindness are you in? You are not even aware of how alienated you are from the problems of this people and this country with your ambition to stay in power. You are so far removed from economics that you will attribute the reason for the economic imbalance in the country to the additional 10 thousand lira raise you will give to minimum wage earners and retirees."
Referring to the investigation into Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TÜSİAD) Board Chairman Orhan Turan and High Advisory Council (YİK) Chairman Mehmet Ömer Arif Aras, Yücel said the following:
"Imposing a ban on business people who export abroad means 'We don't care about the country's economy'. These moves by the AKP government are damaging the country's economy as much as they are damaging our legal order. If the Justice Minister of this country is targeting TÜSİAD right after the statements of these two business people, if the AKP Spokesperson is wagging his finger at TÜSİAD, if the President is saying 'TÜSİAD has exceeded its limits, you will know your limits in the new Turkey', then you cannot talk about judicial independence there."
Yücel, recalling that an indictment was prepared 115 days after Ahmet Özer was removed from his position as Esenyurt Mayor, said, "This indictment is a document that will be a shame for the law in the eyes of members of the judiciary who believe in the rule of law. We believe that the toughest fight against the lawlessness that has been experienced in our country, especially in recent times, will be given by members of the judiciary who believe in the rule of law."
"POLITICAL COMPETITION MUST BE CONDUCTED WITH COURAGE"Deniz Yücel stated that various investigations had been launched against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu before, and most recently, an investigation had been launched for the crime of "forgery of official documents" regarding the claim that his university diploma was fake, and made the following statements:
"They have now lost their minds to the point of claiming that Mr. İmamoğlu's diploma is fake in order to eliminate him from the presidential race. Neither the CHP nor millions will allow Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu to be eliminated from the presidential candidacy process with these political operations. The fact that a mayor who has made a claim about the future of Turkey and defeated Tayyip Erdoğan and the AKP in Istanbul for 3 elections is constantly being kept under judicial pressure is further shaking the trust and belief in democracy. Political competition must be carried out honestly on a fair and legal basis.
