Miners' Heroism Turns into a Documentary: GMİS's 'K-ÖMÜR' is in the Finals of the TRT Documentary Competition!

Produced by the General Mining Workers' Union (GMİS) and directed by Gürkay Gündoğan, the film reveals the events through the testimonies of miners and the earthquake victims they rescued from the rubble. The documentary was selected among hundreds of films in the "National" category of the 16th TRT International Documentary Competition, making it one of the 10 finalists.

GMİS President Hakan Yeşil emphasized the significance of this achievement: "It's incredibly valuable that the sacrifices our heroic miners made, sacrificing their lives, are recognized in an international competition. Every colleague mobilized all their resources to rescue hundreds of injured people from the rubble. This documentary serves as a crucial document to pass on the events to future generations. The fact that this production, whose true owners are our workers, made it to the finals has filled us and our entire community with pride."

The results of the competition will be announced in November.
