A 'one bagel' raise for social assistance

By 2025, 14,148,740 people will be able to survive solely on regular social assistance. The Ministry of Family and Social Services announced a 19-37 lira increase in social assistance, saying, "Congratulations." While citizens commented, "This increase is barely enough for a cup of tea and a simit," Minister Mahinur Göktaş issued a message regarding the 19 lira increase, saying, "Congratulations to all our citizens."

With the increase in social assistance payments, the elderly pension increased from 4,664 TL to 5,390 TL. The elderly received a monthly increase of 726 TL and a daily increase of 24.2 TL. Aid provided to citizens with disabilities between 40 and 69 percent was increased from 3,723 TL to 4,302 TL. Citizen support increased by 579 TL per month and 19.3 TL per day.
