Minister Şimşek's economic assessment

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek reported that exports maintained their resilient structure despite the challenges of global conditions. Minister Şimşek evaluated the developments in macroeconomic data on his social media account. Pointing out that exports maintained their resilient structure despite the challenges of global conditions, Şimşek said, "The current account deficit continues to remain at sustainable levels while being realized in line with our predictions." Mehmet Şimşek stated that the risk premium (CDS), which rose to 381 basis points in April, decreased to 283 basis points as of the end of June and noted the following: "The two-year benchmark bond interest rate decreased from 49 percent to below 40 percent. The decrease in CDS and borrowing costs clearly demonstrates the positive results of our determined and patient stance. We expect domestic financial conditions to improve further in the coming period with the disinflation process."
