Zeydan Karalar's last speech before detention: I paid $400 million of old debt

Detained Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar spoke yesterday at the opening of Karamürsel Municipality's first social facility, Bizim Kafe.

Karalar explained how the debts of the previous administration were paid by their own administration.

Karalar made the following statements:

“Now of course this, no municipality has received a very good budget. They say on TV, they should pay their SSK debts, they find money for concerts, but they can’t find money for their SSK debts. Those SSK debts they are talking about are the debts of the municipalities before us. I have paid exactly 400 million old debts in about 7 years. And despite everything, despite the shake-up, our services continue. Well, I saw the same thing here. I saw the same thing here. In other words, these services are an indicator of how carefully and how well we use our districts, which are formed with your taxes. You pay the high amounts, and almost half of the income is cut, right, Mayor? Almost 40 percent and more is cut.”
