Bus disaster in Peru: Multiple casualties

A double-decker bus traveling from Lima, Peru, to the Amazon, overturned on a highway in the Andes. The accident, which occurred in the Palca district of the Junin region, reportedly overturned and plunged down a hillside. According to local Peruvian media and health officials, at least 18 people were killed and 48 injured in the tragic incident.
Clifor Curipaco, the health director for the Junin region, commented on the accident, saying the bus overturned and fell down a hillside on a highway in the Palca district. Numerous police and firefighters were dispatched to the scene following the accident.
Authorities emphasized that 18 people were killed and 48 sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. An investigation has been launched into the cause of the bus overturning.
