Minister Fidan spoke at the Türkiye-Russia-Ukraine Tripartite Meeting and gave a ceasefire message.

The third round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine has begun at Çırağan Palace. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan , along with National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Director İbrahim Kalın and Chief of General Staff General Metin Gürak, attended the meeting.
In his opening remarks, Minister Fidan said, “We have gathered for the third round of direct talks between Russia and Ukraine, hosted by Türkiye. Our goal is to end this bloody war, which has a very high cost, as soon as possible. We express our gratitude to Mr. Putin and Mr. Zelenskyy, who demonstrated their determination to make these talks possible, to Mr. Trump, who supported the process to end the war, and to all other leaders who provided direct or indirect support to the talks. Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has been a leader who has carried the torch of peace in our conflict-ridden region for years. Turkey has been working diligently from day one to realize peace between Russia and Ukraine under his leadership. We have achieved significant results in the first two rounds of talks. We are pleased to see that the prisoner exchanges achieved so far have been appreciated by the international community for their humanitarian outcomes. We also consider the exchange of perspectives and memorandums regarding a ceasefire and peace by the parties in the second round of talks a significant development. During the intervening period, the negotiating teams have maintained contacts at the technical level.”
Fidan said, "In this third round of negotiations, our hope is that the parties will hold substantive and result-oriented consultations on the memorandums they have exchanged. The ultimate goal is, of course, a ceasefire that will pave the way for peace. Our role as hosts is to provide a negotiating environment in which both sides feel secure. We will continue to fulfill our responsibilities as facilitators. Diplomacy is a process, but it becomes meaningful only when positive progress is made by increasing concrete gains with each new step. Turkey is always ready to fulfill its responsibility to advance the process, depending on the agreement reached by the parties. If an understanding towards a ceasefire is reached, we have the necessary infrastructure in place for a monitoring mechanism. We can also contribute to conducting prisoner exchanges based on a more structured methodology."
Fidan concluded his speech by saying, "The Istanbul talks provide us with the opportunity to demonstrate to the world that diplomacy and dialogue are more effective in establishing peace than conflict and weapons. I once again thank the esteemed heads of delegations and members, and I hope that today's talks will lead to beneficial outcomes for the peoples of Ukraine and Russia. I also extend my sincere gratitude to the esteemed members of the press for their interest."
