The occupancy rate in dams has fallen below 25 percent.

Following a dry spring and summer in Istanbul, despite the autumn rains, occupancy rates in dam reservoirs are declining daily. According to İSKİ (Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration) data, dam occupancy rates, which reached 80 percent last March, are now measured at 24.96 percent. With the decline in occupancy rates in Istanbul's dams, areas once filled with water in the reservoirs have completely dried up. In the Büyükçekmece Dam Reservoir basin, cattle are seen grazing in areas where fish once swam, while the areas beneath the viaducts built for the reservoir have become green spaces.
Four of Istanbul's water supply dams have reached a capacity level below 20 percent, with the lowest capacity being Kazandere Dam at 2.65 percent. The most filled dam in Istanbul is Elmalı Dam, at 49.74 percent.
