AI video conversion is also coming to Google Photos

The feature, accessible via the Create tab in the Google Photos mobile app, has been rolled out exclusively to users in the US. Previously, the app offered six-second animations with its Veo 2-based "photo-to-video" feature. However, the Veo 3 will produce shorter, four-second videos with higher quality.

Google says this feature will allow users to revive their old photos and share their memories in a more dynamic way.

FREE BUT LIMITED

Google announced that the Veo 3 will be free to use in Google Photos, but will allow for limited video production. For those who want more production rights, the company's AI Pro and AI Ultra subscription packages will be available.

Videos lack audio support, and Google adds visible and invisible watermarks to all content for security.

Google announced Veo 3 at its I/O developer conference in May 2025 and integrated it into its Gemini app in July. Now, the technology is being brought to Google Photos , which has more than 1.5 billion monthly active users.
