3 songs from London Morning to boost your playlist

London Morning's associate producer, Ryan Soulliere, listens to a lot of music for his role picking tunes for the show. In any given week, that's about 25 songs. Here are his top three local and Canadian picks from last week.

When you're looking for a smooth song to set up your evening, Original Thoughts by Katie Tupper is a perfect fit. The Saskatoon songwriter continues a trend of releasing songs with silky, soulful vocals coupled with instrumentation that is tailor-fit. Original Thoughts is all of that; it is a perfect tune to create a relaxed atmosphere.

London Morning played Head Up by London's Renée Coughlin this week. But here's another fantastic tune from Coughlin, her latest single, Barefeet. This one is very calm, set to acoustic guitar and piano and is a perfect pairing for her soaring vocals. The lyrics to Barefeet suggest a sense of loss for someone or possibly one's past self. Slightly melancholy, yet still warm, Barefeet is a great song to get into your weekend mornings.

Now for something a little different. Mother Mother's second single from their forthcoming album Nostalgia ticks a lot of boxes. Imagine a song that pays little sonic tributes to bands like Queen, Supertramp, and The Pixies. Both unusual and alluring, Love To Death is a rock song that, at its heart, is fairly mellow with an intriguing grove. Love To Death will be a hit on your next party mix.
