Director's cut of cult film to be shown on Channel 4 Film tonight

Fans of classic cinema are in for a treat tonight as Channel 4 Film will air The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone.
The film is a re-edited version of Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather Part III from 1990, including edits and a new title.
While the original film has faced criticism for not living up to its predecessors, the 2020 version includes a fresh take on the final chapter of the iconic saga. It now features a new beginning, restructured scenes, and an altered ending.
Starring Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, and Andy Garcia, the film is the third act of the life of an aging Michael Corleone (played by Al Pacino), who, now in his 60s, bails out the corrupt Vatican bank.
The story explores Michael’s struggle to legitimise the Corleone family’s empire, his dealings with the Vatican, and the tragic consequences of his past sins.
By reimagining the narrative structure, the film offers a deeper exploration of Michael’s character and the burdens he carries.
Many fans and critics consider it a vast improvement, providing a more cohesive and emotionally resonant conclusion to Michael Corleone’s story.
A review on Reddit said: "I remember seeing The Godfather Part III several years ago and liking it, but it didn't take away much unlike parts one and two.
"The new film made me appreciate part three a lot more in retrospect that the flaws faded away.
"Overall, the new cut is more lean, refined, and improved with a better ending.”
Don’t miss The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone - tonight at 9 PM on Channel 4 Film.
